About the community:
After reading some mommy blogs around the internet I thought maybe there needs to be a blog for daycare providers, especially young daycare providers. When I started I had my little bit of school knowledge and that was it. This community is a place for people to share ideas for everything, things that have worked, things that haven't, questions you'd like someone's opinion on, and whatever else you can think of that would be useful to other daycare providers as well as parents and babysitters. Fun little stories are welcome as well. Posting will be moderated for a while.
I'm 21 years old and one of two teachers in a preschool room run by my county's Recreation and Parks Licensed Extended Day/Youth Camps division. It is also a Judy room that will pay for all or part of a child's tuition if the family is in need. We are located in an elementary school and work closely with our students' teachers. Our students either attend preschool or a 3 year old program that is also a Judy program for half of the day. Before I was in the Judy room I spent a year in an infant/toddler program. I have two associate degrees: Associate of Art in Teaching: Elementary Education and Associates of Art Teacher Educaton: Early Childhood Education. I will be going back to school in a few months to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development, Dual Concentration of Preschool and Infant/Toddler at Walden University, Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership.
